Protect Taman Desa
Taman Danau Desa is under threat, DBKL has rezoned our beloved community playground and police station land without proper public consultation.
We are raising funds to engage Thomas Philip Advocates & Solicitors to file an application for leave for judicial review by August 28, 2025.
Timeline of events
2017-2021
Early signs and initial alienation

​2017: The playground land was officially alienated (transferred out of public hands).

2021: The Tzu Chi recycling centre was told to move, and the playground was fenced up, providing the first physical sign of change to the local community.
2023- February 2024
Community awareness and organized resistance

​​2023: Taman Desa residents were alerted that the playground was being taken away.

30 January 2024: Public feedback was requested for the draft PTKL 2040 (Pelan Tempatan Kuala Lumpur 2040), which proposed the playground site as residential plot ratio 4.0

February - March 2024: Taman Desa residents submitted more than 1000 physical feedback forms objecting to the rezoning of the playground from green space to residential area.
May 2024 - May 2025
Official government process and finalization

​May 2024: Volunteers who submitted objections were invited for a hearing to present their case.

August 2024: Final PTKL2040 was published with playground still rezoned as residential site. Residents also found out that the police station land was rezoned without public consultation.​​​

May 2025 - August 2025
Legal Challenge

May - August 2025: Taman Desa residents decide to take legal action and successfully raised funds to file a judicial review.

August 2025: The formal application for leave to start the judicial review is filed in court.
